Except for Refund of Land Sale Deposits and Staff Pay, D.0.S. personally witnessed all payments of any money in S.D. Though D.O.S. often signed Vouchers for other D.Os. and endorsed the cheques he did not enquire that the money arrived at its correct recipient merely providing his car and watchman as an escort to K.M.
On instructions from the D.O.N.T. in August '47 each D.0. was informed of the responsibility of Checking accounts. This was done by each D.0. for a period though as time passed and no errors were
discovered the checks became less frequent.
